La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is between Punta de Mita y Bucerias, and is at 30 minutes at Puerto Vallarta Downtown.
The town’s name comes from a cross that was found at the entrance to the village that had been made from the wood of a tree called Huanacaxtle (Enterolobium cyclocarpum), which is also called Elephant Ear in other parts of America.
La Cruz, thanks to its Marina and the port, is one of the favorites for visitors sailing from the US, Canada and Europe. Some of them have settled in the village, bringing with them a range of companies and now in this small town you can also enjoy a gallery of Huichol Art, cafes and several international restaurants, local charity events are organized, as well as more traditional stalls and several stores.
